How Does Spinal Decompression Work?

Sciatica Treated with Spinal Decompression Therapy

“Sciatica” is a condition resulting from compression of one of the spinal lumbar nerves, typically L4, L5 or S1. Spinal lumbar nerves from these levels converge and form the sciatic nerve.

The sciatic nerve runs down the leg through the gluteal area past the hip joint and into the thigh. Passing the knee it continues down the leg into the calf, ankle, and foot into the toes. The most common cause is degenerative disc or joint disease. This process commonly involves a bulging or herniated disc which compresses one or more spinal nerves resulting in shooting pain, numbness and/or tingling in the leg, foot or toes.

Spinal Disc Decompression Therapy Offers Relief From Herniated Disc, Bulging Disc and Radiating Leg, Hip and Foot Pain

Marine City Chiropractor specializes in Spinal Decompression Therapy for the treatment of sciatic pain to help relieve the shooting pain of a compressed spinal nerve. This treatment works by gently separating the offending disc by a few millimeters, creating negative pressure (or a vacuum) inside the disc, which promotes the retraction of the bulging disc tissue to stop leg pain without surgery.
