This type of traction is accomplished by lying on a specialized traction table. The intersegmental traction table is another method used to mobilize spinal joints. This therapy addresses disc dehydration, and decreases spasm in the surrounding soft tissues by gently putting the spinal joints into extension. Multiple studies have shown this specific traction technique to be beneficial by decreasing intradiscal pressure thereby hydrating the disc.
